Reopening of Renovated Grand Street Settlement: More Space and Expanded Services

Renovated and with more space, the Grand Street Settlement reopened its doors on the Lower East Side.

This community center offers computer classes, help, and activities such as dance classes for seniors.

“Food will be distributed to those who need it once a week. And we will also provide activities such as dance classes, computer classes”, commented Inés de la Nuez, a member of the center.

It is located at 80 Pitt Street, in the heart of the Gompers public housing complex.

The place had closed due to the pandemic.

However, this summer it opened its doors remodeled after an injection of 18 million dollars, coming from public and private money.

It has a capacity of 250 people.

New Yorkers age 60 and over from all five boroughs can apply.
