Reopening of Rafah Border Crossing for Foreign Evacuees from Gaza

The Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip resumed its work yesterday after a period of suspension due to Israeli raids.

Egyptian security sources said that a group of foreigners and injured Palestinians who were evacuated from Gaza arrived in Egypt yesterday after the reopening of the Rafah crossing.

The sources added that several injured Palestinians arrived in Egyptian territory to receive treatment. Egyptian sources also said that at least 80 relief trucks entered Gaza from Egypt yesterday afternoon.

The German News Agency reported that more than 800 of them entered Egypt through the Rafah border crossing, quoting a spokesman for the crossing on the Palestinian side yesterday.

The Egyptian Red Crescent Society, which is participating in helping the evacuees, said that a large number of them were from Russia and Ukraine. The number who entered Egypt was estimated at approximately 500 people as of yesterday.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry said yesterday that Moscow had begun evacuating its citizens from the Gaza Strip and that more than 60 Russian passport holders had crossed into Egypt.

The head of the Polish National Security Office, Jacek Severa, said that the evacuation of Polish citizens from Gaza began yesterday.

He added in a blog post on the “X” platform: “The first Polish citizens residing in the Gaza Strip crossed the border crossing in Rafah and became on the Egyptian side. “The process has begun.”

It is noteworthy that the number of foreigners present in Gaza before the start of the war on Gaza was about 7,500.
