According to Deutsche Bahn, regional and long-distance trains will then roll there again, and the S-Bahn will follow when operations start on Monday morning.
Due to the construction site for the expansion of the Rhine-Ruhr Express (RRX) between Langenfeld and Leverkusen, trains have had to take diversions since the end of July.
The route was originally supposed to be accessible again in mid-August. But the date was repeatedly postponed. According to Deutsche Bahn, the reason was, among other things, a large-scale theft of overhead cables.
Deutsche Bahn trains are not running! Is there a risk of traffic chaos around Ludwigshafen and Mannheim?
Recently there were error messages during test drives for the new electronic signal boxes in Leverkusen, Langenfeld and Düsseldorf-Reisholz. According to Deutsche Bahn, correcting the error turned out to be more complicated than expected.
The section is part of the mammoth RRX expansion project. The aim is for a fast regional express to run every 15 minutes on the 120 kilometers of trains between Cologne and Dortmund.
