Are you going to the mountains with your family, you don’t have the equipment, and when you looked at the prices, your dolls spun? The solution can be a rental company, but even that can get really expensive, especially if you have a large family. If we add the ski pass and accommodation, a week in the mountains can be equal to a luxurious holiday by the sea.
The question of whether it is better to rent or buy ski equipment is difficult to answer. If you live in the mountains and spend every free moment on the slopes, there is nothing to think about. The second option is if you get to the mountains once a year and you have small children. It is pointless to buy bigger and bigger boots and longer skis when the original ones are only used once.
The biggest advantage of new equipment is its quality. It is new, unworn, but expensive at the same time. Some choose a combination where they have their own ski boots, but borrow skis. “Shoes don’t have to fit everyone, it’s so good when you know your foot is comfortable,” Petr Korál, the owner of a ski equipment rental shop on the outskirts of Prague, told us.
The fact that the rental company has a smaller selection in the season and the shoe does not have to fit is said to happen. But it won’t show up right away, only after a few hours of riding.
PrahaIN.cz looked at the prices if you decide on new equipment, but also at the prices of rental companies. They are very different. Equipment can be found for a few thousand, but also for tens of thousands. Rental companies move very form. In the case of an adult, we have to expect prices of around six hundred per day, for children one hundred less.

Shoes for almost 16 thousand crowns
To get an overview of the prices of new equipment, we visited Sportisimo. The cheapest ski boots (Nordica) cost 2,799 crowns. Due to the pink accessories, they were women’s. Men’s were two hundred more expensive. The most expensive ones were from the Rossignol brand, they cost 15,590 crowns and were heated. Through the application, you connect them to your smartphone and you can choose from several types and levels of heating.
Children’s ones are not much cheaper, the ones with the lowest price are again the same brand and cost 1,999 crowns for girls and 2,199 crowns for boys. If we wanted a more expensive and different brand, we can get to the amount of around five thousand.
It’s the same with skis, they can be found for around five thousand, but you can also pay tens of thousands.
The second option is rental companies.

Happy Sport offers equipment pickup in Prague. A children’s ski set includes skis, boots, poles, and a helmet and costs from 309 crowns per day. For an adult, the same set, just without the helmet, costs 469 crowns. In the case of a higher category, the price is from 499 crowns per day.
If we choose a rental company in Špindlerův Mlýn, we will have to pay extra. For one day of renting skis and boots for an adult, we pay 650 crowns, for two days 1,290 crowns. The higher category costs 760 crowns for one day, 1,500 crowns for two.
Krkonoše, Šumava, Lipno
Although the ski area did not raise the prices for ski passes this year, we were surprised by one day of skiing and equipment rental. And not only us. We talked to two tourists from Austria at the stand. Our prices were literally shocking. A one-day ski pass cost them 3,380 crowns and renting skis 1,520 crowns.

We also looked at the prices at Sport Šumava, which rents out equipment in Zadov or Kvilda. The adult set is offered for one day from 500 crowns, children’s from 300 crowns and juniors from 400 crowns. Even ski passes are cheaper in Šumava. A one-day pass here costs 430 crowns for an adult, 350 crowns for youth between 6-15 years old, and 170 crowns for children under 6 years old.
We found a higher price for renting a ski set in Špičák in Šumava. Renting a set for one day will cost 710 crowns, and 410 crowns for children. A one-day ski pass here costs 890 crowns, a child’s 640 crowns.

Winter is slowly starting to show strength. The ski areas have started artificial snowmaking and are slowly preparing for the premiere opening. PrahaIN.cz therefore decided…
Similar prices are in Ještěd. One day rental of equipment in basic quality costs 620 crowns, in better quality for 990 crowns. Children’s equipment is around five hundred per day.
We were the last to submit to the awards in Lipno. Intersport Rent – Hotel Element offers an economy set for 638 crowns for one day, in the best quality it costs 1,003 crowns. A children’s set costs 459 crowns for one day.
The amounts in Lipno are the most vilified on social networks, although they are practically comparable to the rest of the mountain resorts. Only then are the campuses within Špindlerův Mlýn.
“From our point of view, the prices in our rental company are within the national average. Our prices are for ski sets, including helmets. Competitors have various other discounts on products, such as Hochficht, where a child under 14 has a 50 percent discount, while Lipno Centrum has free equipment for children under five. So it is difficult to compare who is more expensive in the end, it depends on the age composition of the group or the individual,” Ludvík Medřický from the marketing department of Lipno Servis mentioned to PrahaIN.cz. And he adds: “However, we have a state-of-the-art environment, quality equipment and permanent experienced staff.” We go for quality and customer satisfaction, which I dare say is at a higher level than the competition,” he mentioned.
