You cannot rent an e-scooter 24/7 everywhere. At some point, the scooters also have to be charged. For this reason, you will hardly find anyone in some German cities traveling at night with a rented e-scooter.
Rent e-scooters – charging is mostly done at night
If you want to rent an e-scooter, you certainly want the device to be charged.
- In order for this to be the case, e-scooters are often collected by their providers in the evening and fed with electricity overnight.
- Mini-jobbers are responsible for collecting and loading. Depending on the provider, these are called Juicer, Charger, Scooter Ranger or Hunter.
- With the provider Tier, the times in which you can Rent an e-scooter can from city to city. The e-scooter comes to a standstill and switches off automatically no later than 10 minutes after the end of the rental period. Here are the rental times for animal scooters in the individual cities:
- In Berlin, Bielefeld, Bochum, Bonn, Düsseldorf, Flensburg, Gelsenkirchen, Halle (Saale), Hanover, Hildesheim, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Ingolstadt, Ludwigshafen, Karlsruhe, Cologne, Mannheim, Mönchengladbach, Mülheim, Munich, Nuremberg, Paderborn and Potsdam Tier-Scooter is now available to you around the clock, i.e. every day from midnight to midnight.
- In Dortmund, Essen and Gütersloh: Sunday to Thursday 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday 7 a.m. to midnight and Saturday 8 a.m. to midnight.
- In Mainz and Wiesbaden, the e-scooters are available from 7 a.m.
- In Münster, the e-scooters are available Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to midnight, Saturday from 9 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Lime without fixed times
Lime’s green scooters are on the road in many European cities.

- Lime does not have fixed charging times for most e-scooters. The juicers, as the collectors are called here, collect the vehicles as soon as the app reports a low charge level. Other scooters are only collected and loaded after 9 p.m.
- There are no set plans for when the juicers will have to collect the devices.
Bird – Charger on their own schedule
The provider Bird is also represented in Germany.
- The pilot project of the US provider started in Bamberg. Bird can now be found in Berlin, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Karlsruhe, Cologne, Hamburg, Hanover and Munich.
- All e-scooters are picked up by the chargers in the evening.
- The vehicles are charged overnight. The next morning at 7 a.m., the e-scooters are ready for use again.
