Rensch and Baas book big win with Jong Oranje over North Macedonia

Devyne Rensch and Youri Baas did good business with Jong Oranje in the European Championship qualification on Thursday evening. In the stadium of Almere City they won 5-0 against Jong Noord-Macedonië. After eight matches, Michael Reiziger’s team is still flawless. On Monday a draw against Jong Georgia in Venlo will suffice for qualification for the European Championship.

Jong Oranje took the lead after just two minutes when Youri Regeer, on a pass from Noah Ohio, finished off a smooth attack with a sliding shot into the bottom left corner. In the 22nd minute, Ohio also scored. North Macedonian goalkeeper Marko Alcevski first clumsily delivered the ball to Ruben van Bommel. The AZ player immediately played it to Ohio, who then produced a saveable shot that was too much for Alcevski: 2-0.

Boss forced to step in as substitute

In the 28th minute, central defender Finn van Breemen sat down due to physical complaints. The FC Basel player was replaced by Ajax player Baas, who, like in Amsterdam, played as a left central defender.

Only after an hour of play did Jong Oranje take a 3-0 lead. Million Manhoef was the final destination after a good attack. He shot the withdrawn cross from Ohio well. Eight minutes later, Manhoef also made it 4-0 with his second goal. The Stoke City attacker was sharp on a rebound on the attempt by substitute Emanuel Emegha.

Young North Macedonia seemed ripe for the slaughter and also conceded their fifth goal in the 74th minute. Regeer turned well away from his direct man after a pass from Manhoef and the former Ajax player shot the ball hard into the far bottom corner: 5-0. Rensch was eventually substituted in the 82nd minute. With the victory, Young Orange are in first place in the group with 24 points from eight matches.
