Tonight, Qatif Governorate was saddened by news of the passing of marine scientist Dr. Abdul Wahed Al-Marhoon, in a traffic accident. Social media in the governorate was filled with news of his death and broadcast of obituaries, affected by his shocking passing.
The deceased, who grew up in the town of Al-Jaroudiya, is considered one of the first Saudi specialists in marine sciences. He began his life in Saudi Aramco, which sent him to the United States of America, but he relied on developing himself, by studying marine sciences and obtaining a doctorate from Malaysia.
His passion for specialization led him to leave Aramco and rely on his own work through a specialized company. His work helped him open up to world cultures and live for years in many countries, Arab and foreign. Despite his many preoccupations, he was known for his electronic activity on the “Facebook” platform, in which he demonstrated his social skills, humor, and positive interaction, which stirred the feelings of his friends by expressing their sadness over his sudden departure.
