The award-winning Russian film director and screenwriter Gleb Panfilov has passed away at the age of 89, said the director of the Moscow theater “Lenkom” Mark Varshavers.
Panfilov is the director and screenwriter of the films “There is no brasla nav in fire”, “Start”, “Please name”, “Vassa”, “Ivan Denisovičs”, “Tema”, “Māte” and others.
He has received awards at the Venice, Cannes and Berlin film festivals.
In 1970, Panfilov shot the film “The Beginning”. During the making of the film, he married actress Inna Churikova. She passed away at the beginning of 2023.
