Renowned Russian Figure Skating Coach Natalya Dubinskaya Passes Away at 74 Years Old

Honored figure skating coach of the Russian Federation Natalya Dubinskaya has died. She was 74 years old. Her son Denis Samokhin spoke about Dubinskaya’s death. He said that his mother had been terminally ill for several years—she had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

“For four years she struggled with the terrible incurable disease ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), which took everything from her. Strength, energy, a job she loved, the ability to move and breathe… She was never able to accept herself in this illness, which ate her up even more. Sleep well, mommy… you deserve it more than anyone else. Kingdom of Heaven,” wrote Samokhin, his words are reported by the publication Sport 24.

Dubinskaya was a coach of many famous athletes in the country and in the world. Among them are figure skaters Irina Lobacheva, Ilya Averbukh, Nikita Katsalapov and many, many others.
