Renowned Indonesian Poet Joko Pinurbo Passes Away: A Look Back at His Impact on Literature

According to Mirna, Joko Pinurbo died at Panti Rapih Hospital. Since yesterday, he has been in the hospital again because of the illness he is suffering from.

Joko Pinurbo is known as the best writer in Indonesia who was born in Sukabumi, West Java, on May 11, 1962. The man known as Jokpin has loved poetry since he was in high school. Because of his love for poetry, he studied at Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta.

This famous writer has a long list of poems he has written. Some of Joko Pinurbo’s works include Pants (1999), My Little Girlfriend’s Pants Under the Waist of a Sarong (2007), Under the Waist of a Sarong (2001), My Little Pacaran (2002), and Mobile Phone ( 2003).

Then, his works also include Haduh, I was followed (2013), Surat from Yogya: A Selection of Poems (2015), Srimenanti (2019), and Asu is not among us: A Collection of Short Stories (2023).

Joko Pinurbo has several collections titled Tugu (1986), Tonggak (1987), Sembilu (1991), Ambang (1992), Mimbar Poets Century 21 (1996), and Utan Kayu Tafsir in Game (1998).
