People’s Artist of the USSR ballerina Svetlana Adyrkhaeva died at the age of 86. This was reported at the Bolshoi Theater of Russia.
“Svetlana Adyrkhaeva passed away <…> She died at home after a long illness,” the theater’s press service told TASS. The time and date of farewell will be known later.
Svetlana Adyrkhaeva was born on May 12, 1938. Later she graduated from the Leningrad Choreographic School, was a soloist of the ballet troupe of the Chelyabinsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. M.I. Glinka (1955-1958), Odessa State Academic Theater (1958-1960). In 1960 she became a soloist of the ballet troupe of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater until 1988. In 2001 she returned to the Bolshoi Theater as a choreographer-repetiteur, and since 2013 she has been a member of the Artistic Council of the ballet troupe. Adyrkhaeva received the title of People’s Artist of the USSR in 1984.
