The Washington Post informed about the death of the famous American hacker Kevin Mitnick. Kevin Mitnick was 59 years old, the cause of death was pancreatic cancer. Mitnick died on the 16th, but his death was only reported to the media on July 20th.

Kevin Mitnick rose to worldwide fame in the 90s as a very talented hacker. Mitnick was chased by the American FBI, The Washington Post calls him the most famous cybercriminal in the United States.

Mitnick “hacked into the computer systems of companies such as Motorola, Nokia, and Sun Microsystems, causing millions of dollars in damage, according to prosecutors,” according to The Washington Post.

“Even before he was 30 years old, Mr. Mitnick was already serving a short prison sentence for computer crimes. But his reputation as a hacker was cemented in 1995 when the FBI arrested him in the middle of the night in his North Carolina apartment in a highly publicized raid that resulted in a 24-hour surveillance of his home and ended his more than two-year run.

For his hacker experiences, Mitnick had to serve time in prison. At the same time, as the court decision stated, the hacker was forbidden to use even a landline phone – it was believed that he was able to access the Internet and hack other people’s programs even in this way.

After his release from prison and until the end of his days, Kevin Mitnick logically worked as a cybersecurity consultant in the United States.
