In a show of community collaboration, the Michelli Neighborhood Board has begun a renovation project that includes the restoration of an emblematic boat and the improvement of public spaces. Marcela Dodero, municipal representative, commented on the progress and the commitment of the neighbors.
“This project was presented quite a while ago by the president of the Neighborhood Board. It is an initiative of the neighbors themselves, and from the municipality we have been supporting them with the materials they have needed. They have been given a lot of paint for the boat, which was quite deteriorated due to salt and weather. One of the objectives of the project was to paint both the exterior and the interior of the boat, which also needed repairs with wood,” explained Dodero. The effort is not limited to the boat alone. The initiative also includes painting and renovating a nearby wall, and materials are being arranged for the restoration of games in a local square. “There is a neighbor who is a welder and has offered to carry out the necessary repairs if we get the material. This shows that it is not about the State not coming, but about an articulation in which we are all part of the community,” added Dodero on Signos FM. The active participation of the community is a reason for celebration for Dodero. “It is wonderful to see that the neighbors want to participate and improve their environment. This reflects a strong feeling of belonging. Instead of waiting for everything to be resolved for them, they are taking the initiative to generate different activities and projects every day,” he said. In addition, Dodero highlighted the enthusiasm and dedication of the members of the Neighborhood Board. Although it is normal for the number of participants to fluctuate in any group project, this has not stopped progress. “The important thing is that we continue working and building together,” he concluded.
