Klobenstein – The Rittner Buam were in action on Saturday evening as part of the 23rd round of the Alps Hockey League away from the Steel Wings Linz. After initial difficulties, Santeri Heiskan’s team prevailed 3-1 and celebrated their third win in a row.
The Rittner Buam, who had to do without MacGregor Sharp and Kevin Fink again, were the big favorites in the duel with bottom light Linz on Saturday before the game, who only managed to collect two points in previous games. But after the first 20 minutes the underdog from Upper Austria led the Linz AG Eisarena completely surprisingly. Rohm had brought the Steel Wings into the front in the 12th minute. With this result it was also in the cabins.
After the first break, the Rittner Buam burned off an offensive fireworks display, which was probably also the result of a cabin address by Santeri Heiskanen. At times, the blue-reds constricted the home side for minutes in their third. A total of 25 shots were fired at Egger’s chest in the course of the second 20 minutes, while Cavallin was almost idle in only five attempts. The best opportunity was missed after half an hour, Tudin in the majority, who could not accommodate the puck standing alone in the Linzer Tor. Salvation came in minute 36 – outnumbered. When Tudin was braising in the cooler, Gabri equaled. Simon Kostner had prepared his second goal of the season in an exemplary manner (35.46). Not even three minutes later it got even better. This time the guests acted in power play and Andreas Lutz put Ritten in the front for the first time with one of his dreaded long shots (38.20). For Lutz it was the ninth goal of the season. A few seconds before the siren, Manuel Öhler almost scored the third goal of the evening, but after 40 minutes it remained 2-1 from the South Tyrolean perspective.
In the final third it went back and forth. While the hosts were pushing for the equalization, the Rittner Buam wanted to bring about the preliminary decision. In the beginning, Cavallin was able to excel when he successfully blocked a raw shot with the leg protector. In the 52nd minute, Norris was unable to deflect a shot decisively. A little later, the preliminary decision was finally made when Jakob Prast put a precise shot into the far corner and his fourth goal of the season to 3: 1 from the point of view of the Rittner Buam (55.08). In the last minute of the game, Linz took his goalkeeper off the ice, but he left it too slowly and because too many players were on it, the home side received a small bank penalty. So it stayed with the deserved 3-1 away win.
Steel Wings Linz – Rittner Buam 1:3 (1:0, 0:2, 0:1)
Torre: 1: 0 Rohm (11.55), 1: 1 Radovan Gabri (35.46 / SH), 1: 2 Andreas Lutz (38.27 / PP), 1: 3 Jakob Prast (55.08)
