Rengo Hospital urges users to donate blood, life and hope

Currently the COVID-19 pandemic continues and with it, it remains in people to avoid going to health facilities for fear of getting infected, which is why, given the shortage of blood and voluntary donors, the Transfusion Medicine Unit (UMT) of the Hospital de Rengo, calls on users to give life and hope through the collections that are made in the hospital on Wednesdays from 09:00 to 15:00, being able to register at telephone numbers 72 -2337362 and 72-2337344 or on Instagram @donasangre.rengo and thus schedule your visit avoiding crowds.

In this sense, the director(s) of the Ricardo Valenzuela Sáez Hospital, Dr. Enrique Moraga Fernández, emphasized that “it is very important that we understand that blood is not only needed to face a disease, but also to help people who have suffered a traffic accident or a complicated delivery and that in a pandemic the requirement by patients has increased, but unfortunately their donation has decreased, that is why we go to users to ask for their collaboration by giving their time and this vital element to So many people need it.”

In this regard, the Medical Technologist of the Transfusion Medicine Unit of the Rengo Hospital, Carolina Ahumada, invites you to participate in the blood collections, noting that “we wait for you every Wednesday, giving life and hope to so many people who need it. We are located inside the establishment and the entrance is through Quintalba street, we are open from 09:00 to 15:00. They can participate from 17 to 70 years old with the following requirements; minors with the authorization of the mother, father or legal guardian and in the case of users between 65 and 70 years of age with the authorization of the UMT doctor”.

For his part, Eleodoro Padilla Piña from San Vicente de Tagua Tagua, who participated in the blood collection, explained that “my brother had a blood transfusion in the hospital, because he has anemia, therefore, with my family he we are replenishing and it is the first time that I donate and it was a fairly expeditious procedure. Also, I understand that people are afraid of getting COVID when they go to the hospital, but I call on them to participate, since it is important to save lives.”

Regarding her experience of participating as a family, Alicia Padilla Piña indicated that “we are united by donating to our brother and the attention has been excellent by the employees of the Rengo Hospital; They are very kind, professional and soft to draw blood. Tell people not to be afraid, to come to donate life for people who need it, since it is a safe procedure, which is carried out in a sector inside the establishment, but away from the COVID area ”.
