Renfe’s strike is called until October 12 | Radio Alicante | Present

The strike called by the SEMAF (Spanish Union of Machinists and Railway Helpers) union since Thursday at Renfe affects 20 high-speed and medium and long-distance trains in our province.

In Alicante it concerns above all the AVE line with Madrid and the Euromed, with several suspended services. Travelers have been warned and relocated on the following trains. This Friday, the day with the busiest passenger movement between Alicante and the capital, there are six AVE affected, three in each direction.

As for commuter trains, the minimum services will allow 75% of convoys to circulate at rush hour (that is, from 6 to 9 in the morning, from one thirty to three thirty and from five thirty to eight and afternoon) and at 50% in off-peak hours. 65% of the programmed offer will circulate in medium distance.

However, the company points out on its website that if the passenger does not wish to travel, “they may cancel or change their ticket for another date at no cost”, which can be done in all Renfe sales channels.

In addition to the information published on the renfe.com website and on the different Twitter accounts, more than 265,000 personalized communications have been sent to report these possible effects.

The Spanish Union of Train Drivers and Railway Assistants, which represents 85% of Renfe’s train drivers, will continue the strike in principle on October 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11 and 12, in the middle of the El Pilar bridge.

They call for the recovery of the trains suspended as a result of the pandemic, the integrity of the Railway, the recovery of workers and a decent public railway service.
