The head of the Palestinian Energy Authority confirmed, in statements to Cairo News Channel, that the cessation of water pumps in the Gaza Strip portends an environmental disaster due to the spread of diseases and epidemics, explaining: “We are working with international relief organizations and the Egyptian Red Crescent to bring in the fuel needed to operate hospitals.”
He continued: “We are suffering from a severe shortage of medical supplies necessary to provide relief to the wounded and injured in the Gaza Strip.”
