Renewal of the first six Final Fantasy games is on its way…

Back in June 2021 Square Enix has announced plans to revamp the first six games in the Final Fantasy series. The games have been releasing on PC and mobile in turn this year, and now they’re coming to consoles as well.

In a press release, Square writes that the games will arrive on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in spring 2023. The games can be purchased separately or together.

Passionate fans can also secure a separate collector’s pack which will launch in celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Final Fantasy series. This includes various physical extras, only sold in very limited editions through the Square Enix store and cost a staggering 3,000 Danish kroner.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster brings modern innovations to classic RPGs, including an overhauled user interface and what the developer calls an improved gaming experience. At the same time, Pixel Remaster editions keep the classic pixel graphics.

The renovation project came about after Square released several controversial new versions of the games, including on mobile devices, which garnered a lot of flak for simply removing the pixel styling and replacing the graphics.
