At the entrance to the sports complex, René Tys, nothing suggests the big move in progress. On the large glass frontage, a “Terre de Jeux 2024” logo lets you imagine the rest. The City of Reims has indeed been labeled “Terre de Jeux 2024” and several of its facilities will become preparation centers for the Paris Olympics. The René Tys complex just caught the eye of the British delegation. Trampolines, floor mats, hoops and other espaliers will therefore gradually disappear from the main room. Enough to leave room for brand new equipment in the two halls of honor. Objective: to be up to standard to welcome, within a few weeks, the Great Britain gymnastics team.
“As part of the specifications, additional fittings were necessary. All equipment must be identical to that used for the 2024 Olympics,” explains Raphaël Blanchard, deputy mayor of Reims in charge of sports. This Rémoise structure will also host the British table tennis and boxing delegation. Several preparation periods are planned during the 2023-2024 season. “An interaction will therefore be set up between the delegations and the clubs that usually use the place. There are no plans to privatize the site, ”said the elected official.
An Olympic day on June 24

The double gold medalist in the trampoline, Bryony Page, should train there for her third participation in the Olympic Games.
A tourist and economic manna for the territory. “It will also be a red thread throughout the year for the Rémois and the Marnais. All the events in our territory, cultural or sporting, will be associated with this welcome from the British nation”. It will start on Saturday June 24, the day after Olympism Day, the city of Reims will organize “an Olympic day” on the esplanade of the Porte Mars, in the heart of the city with sports initiations, demonstrations and practical stands.
The UCPA Sport Statio water park complex, newly built on a former wasteland, will also welcome Team GB swimmers from June 17 to 21. The Paris Olympic Games will open on July 26, 2024. Until then, Reims can still occupy a prominent place by hosting team sport preparation matches, nothing is decided yet. Further announcements could be made next September.
