VideoCardz has published a render of an AMD Navi 24-gpu. It is rumored to be produced on TSMC N6 and used in the alleged Radeon RX 6500 XT. The render confirms, among other things, the amount of compute units.
VideoCardz received the render from Disclosuzen, a source that more often shares information about unannounced AMD hardware with that website. The render confirms, among other things, that the Navi 24-gpu has half the number compute units of Navi 23. This brings the number of cu’s to 16, for a total of 1024 stream processors. From die-size Navi 24 is estimated at 141mm², which is about 40 percent smaller than Navi 23. Furthermore, according to VideoCardz, the GPU will receive 16MB of Infinity Cache and a 64bit memory bus.
According to previous rumors, Navi 24 will be produced on N6, the 6nm process of TSMC. AMD’s current RDNA2 GPUs are made at 7nm. N6 is an improved version of TSMC’s 7nm process, which uses, among other things, euv and offers an 18 percent higher density. The Taiwanese chip maker announced N6 in 2019 and then reported that 7nm chip designs can be easily ported to its 6nm node. AMD itself has not yet confirmed whether it will have certain chips produced on TSMC N6.
AMD is expected to announce the first products with a Navi 24-gpu on January 4. The company will hold a presentation on that date as part of the CES electronics fair. The chip is presumably used in the Radeon RX 6500 XT and RX 6400, which have been rumored for some time.
