Renault’s New Budget Class Electric Car: What to Expect and Latest Updates

French car manufacturer Renault is preparing to present a new budget class electric car for the European market. Several sources close to the automaker Automotive News Europe have expressed that it could happen within the next couple of days.

Media concludes that the presentation of such a car is a way to maintain investor confidence in Renault’s electrification plans, and the manufacturer’s electric car sub-brand Ampere is set to become a listed company. By 2030, at least six models under the Ampere brand should enter the market.

The new model will be produced under the Renault brand and there are reports that the car manufacturer plans to produce this model at its factory in Slovakia. It is planned that this future model will be placed under the Renault 5 model in the offer and will be the conceptual successor of the Renault Twingo. Here, of course, we could talk about the fact that this new model is the successor of the electric Zoe, but Renault representatives indicate that it is the Renault 5 that is planned as the direct successor of the Zoe.

Plans for the creation of such a model have been announced before, when Renault CEO Luca De Meo spoke about Renault’s ambitions to “democratize the availability of electric cars” in Europe. For now, however, there is no more specific news about this Renault model.
