The announced restrictions on internal combustion engines in many countries and the proposed Europe-wide ban on internal combustion engines from 2035 are forcing some carmakers to reconsider their current strategies and speed up the transition to electric cars. Renault is also a brand that has announced that it will be fully electric on the old continent by 2030.
–
Luca de Meo, CEO of the French carmaker, told reporters on Monday during a media event at Renault’s technical center near Paris. He also confirmed to Automotive News that Renault will stop selling internal combustion cars from 2030. It joins Ford, Opel, Peugeot and other major players.

De Meo said last summer that Renault’s electrification in Europe would be 90 percent in 2030, making plans even tighter.
–
To achieve its goal, Renault will launch at least four fully electric models by 2025. These include the Renault 5, compact SUV, small crossover and van. They will join Zoe, Renault’s first mass-produced electric vehicle, and the recently introduced Megane Electric.
