Renault shot the Tesla Semi, because its electric trucks have been in operation for a long time

Someone announces the products, someone sends them on a trip. And he doesn’t forget to jokingly report it.

Tesla is quite well known for his peculiar approach to timing. It launches most of its models on the market after a relatively long time from their introduction. Not to mention the number of delays that usually accompany new product launches. And it’s no different in the case of the Tesla semi-electric tractor.

It was first revealed in November 2017, while its production was originally scheduled for 2019. Ultimately, however, the first pieces are expected to reach customers only in the coming weeks. The car company Renault, or its Renault Trucks division, therefore decided to try to address this situation. And in a quite original way.

At the start of the half-minute commercial, we see a poster posted attracting the Tesla Semi. The presumed future of electric freight transport. Subsequently, a text appears, which in translation transmits “There are those who make big claims.

A cut follows, the poster gluer enters the cabs of a truck and another subtitle translates to: “And those who are already accumulating kilometers. In the larger picture, a purely electric Renault truck appears, thus drawing attention to the development of the Renault Trucks E-Tech 100% electric electric trucks.

In the description of the video, the automaker adds that its electric trucks have already traveled about 2 million kilometers. At the same time, Renault is working with the second generation of electric trucks, the range of which includes the E-Tech Master, E-Tech D and E-Tech D Wide models, while the latter is also available in a 6×2 configuration. The load capacity varies from 3.1 to 26 tons.

The electric vans and trucks in the Renault Trucks range are not intended for long-distance transport and will not carry as much as the Tesla Semi. Unlike Tesla, however, they have long been manufactured in the Blainville-sur-Orne plant and are available in a wide range of markets. After all, even on the Czech market you can find their parameters and calculate their theoretical range according to different uses / loads.

Pepsi is expected to become the first overseas Tesla Semi electric tractor operator, as announced by Elon Musk via Twitter earlier this month. Deliveries are expected to start on December 1st.
