Renault Maroc launches the new 100% electric Megane

A true success story, with 7 million units sold worldwide, the Megane is now beginning a new adventure with a 100% electric engine under the hood. It is a synchronous motor with a wound rotor, the technology that Renault has been relying on for more than ten years. It is a compact engine that weighs 145 kilos (transmission included), or 10% less weight than that used by ZOE, despite a marked increase in power and torque. Also on the menu, a version of 160 kW (220 hp) and 300 Nm is offered. The engine of the new 100% electric Megane E-Tech also allows you to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds.

Like its powertrain, this new Megane benefits from an entirely new 395 kilo battery, designed to perfectly integrate with the CMF-EV platform. The battery is also intended to be ultra thin. Its height is limited to 110 mm (for 1,960 mm in length and 1,450 mm in width), or 40% less than that of the ZOE battery. It directly contributes to limiting the height of the vehicle to 1.50 m for the benefit of aerodynamics and efficiency: “To achieve such compactness, the engineers were able to rely on a new version of battery chemistry lithium-ion with NMC technology (for “Nickel, Manganese, Cobalt”) from LG, integrating more nickel and less cobalt, for the benefit of energy density,” we explain to Renault Maroc, while noting that “the new 100% electric Megane E-Tech offers 21 driving aids, a first in Morocco, which are divided into three categories: driving, parking and safety. They bring New 100% electric Megane E-Tech to the top of its category in terms of driver comfort and safety of occupants and other road users.”

On the marketing side, the new 100% electric Renault Megane E-Tech will be available in the Renault network in Morocco from May 6, 2024. Its price in the Techno version is 478,000 Dhs.

As a reminder, the E-Tech label has arrived in Morocco since June 2023. Today, Renault is in the top 3 best sellers of electrified vehicles on the Moroccan market, which is still timid in terms of electric mobility. Indeed, and according to AIVAM, sales of cars with electrified engines experienced growth of 25% in 2023 compared to 2022, i.e. a total of 7,165 units, for a market share of 4.5% of sales. new vehicles in Morocco. A still modest segment…
