Renault has shown a prototype for the next generation of the Twingo hatchback, which will go on sale in 2026. The new Twingo will be fully electric and, judging by the design of the prototype, will have an appearance inspired by the original Twingo hatchback from the 90s. those years.
The appearance of this Twingo prototype differs significantly from that of the outgoing model, which boasted a rear engine and rear-wheel drive. The overall shape is shared with the first generation Twingo, while we still find the modern design language of the brand. The new car even gets the triple hood vents that were a hallmark of the first generation.
The new Twingo will be positioned below the new Renault 5 electric hatch and Renault 4 compact SUV, using the same “AmpR Small” modular architecture. Ampere, Renault Group’s small electric car division, will be responsible for design, engineering and production. The price will be below 20 thousand euros.
