Renault could return to the United States with its Alpine brand

The Alpine A110 will not make the trip to the United States. However, the brand’s future electric models could cross the Atlantic and end up in AutoNation dealerships.

Renault could return to the United States with its Alpine brand. Laurent Rossi, the man at the head of the Dieppe manufacturer declared in the columns of Automotive News that the two models currently in development were also designed for the United States. They are two electric SUVs of the same size as the Porsche Macan and Cayenne, however they will not arrive on the market before 2027-2028.

For the CEO of Alpine, the United States represents a crucial market to increase sales volumes. The French manufacturer currently offers only one model, the Alpine A110, which last year convinced just over 3,000 customers. Alpine aims to sell 150,000 vehicles by 2030. To achieve this goal, Alpine will therefore launch three new models while trying to penetrate the American market.

For his part, Luca de Meo, the CEO of Renault negotiates with AutoNation, one of the largest automotive retailers in the country for future models of Alpine to be sold through this dealership. The CEO indicated that this relationship “could go even further”without giving specific details.

As a reminder, Renault sold some of its models in the United States until the 1980s. The diamond manufacturer left the United States in 1987 after the assassination of Georges Besse in Paris, former CEO of Renault, in 1986.
