Renault and Stellantis may enter into a new alliance and create an Airbus car: details

Italian media claim that Stellantis and Renault could collaborate to create the Airbus of the automotive world. It is noted that the purpose of such a merger may be to create a new European car federation that could take Toyota out of its position as the largest automaker in the world. The combined company could overtake the Volkswagen group and become the largest car manufacturer in Europe.

According to sources, French President Emmanuel Macron supports the idea, advocating for a strategic alliance between the two major brands to support the European automotive sector.

However, speaking to the media recently during a visit to one of Stellantis’ factories in eastern France, chief executive Carlos Tavares called the reports “pure speculation”. Furthermore, Renault chief executive Luca de Meo rejected these talks, calling them “rumours”.

Meanwhile, it was previously reported that the French government is very interested in the future of the Stellantis and Renault brands, as it owns 15% in Renault and a 6.1% stake in Stellantis. Macron is also said to want Renault boss Luca de Meo to lead the new alliance.

It should be noted that the Italian media suggests that BMW could join Stellantis and Renault. The German partner can bring its experience in the production of business-class electric vehicles. The heads of the three concerns are expected to meet at the Paris Motor Show, which starts on October 14.
