My name is Renato and I’m a Health Technician of Medical Radiology. I have been working as a TSRM in a public company in Calabria for about 10 years. For some time I have been denouncing the absence of adequate radiation protection for us health professionals.
Unfortunately no one has listened to me so far and I have also received disciplinary repentance. Today I read your piece on the Spermiogram and my human story came to mind.
Insult was added to the damage. After 12 months of trying with my wife to have a baby I decided to get checked by an andrologist (my wife by a gynecologist). The doctor prescribed me specific checks, including a spermiogram, a specific culture exam and a thorough check of the motility, quality and shape of my spermatozoa.
After having done all the tests and diagnostic investigations of the case, the Andrologist, and my wife’s Gynecologist, came to a single conclusion: I became sterile and in all likelihood this condition was caused by the continuous contact with the radiation of the diagnostic equipment. used in my department. The systems of radiation protection have been declared inadequate by one of the Workers’ Safety Officers (RLS).
In short, in short, my condition of sterility is now permanent, I had a fight with my wife (we broke up) and I live in a condition of perennial fear of getting cancer.
Is it possible that in the South we should work in these conditions? Nobody thinks about our safety TSRM and of us health professionals and if someone protests is immediately beaten.
I do not go further otherwise I become violent and start cursing.
