This Wednesday morning (28), at night Japanese time, the Brazilian men’s volleyball team lost the first match in Olympic Games. The Russian Olympic Committee was much more efficient both in defense and attack, nullifying the main Brazilian weapons and winning by the score of 3 sets to 0.

In the post-game interview, coach Renan Dal Zotto avoided blaming someone specifically: “We need to win, go in with everything. Let’s play against a great team. Let’s study hard and prepare. The most important thing is not to find blame. It was the team that didn’t work at times”.
Renan also recalled Brazil’s last participation in the Olympic Games, in which he had difficulty advancing from the group stage, but ended up with the gold: “Leaving it to the last round is never cool. We had a moment when things were difficult, we only managed to revert from the game against France”.

However, remembering the previous game, the coach highlighted the team’s ability to react: “Now, against Argentina, we were also able to reverse a complicated situation, we took a breath. The Olympics is a little unpredictable. Russia has been having a great competition and we need to think ahead. There’s only a quarry”.
The next match of the Brazilian men’s volleyball team takes place this Thursday (29), against the United States. At the moment, Brazil is only in third place, with five points, and would be facing Japan, second in Group A, in the quarter-finals.
