The parliamentarian, from the Socialism and Freedom Party (PSOL), supported his request in news spread by the local press, according to which the company Astronautas Filmes was doing free work for a company of Renan Bolsonaro, only 22 years old and dedicated organizing events.
According to a report in the Folha de S.Paulo newspaper, Astronautas Filmes, a video producer, carried out some advertising for the inauguration of the President’s son’s company without charging any amount for the work.
Astronautas Filmes itself admitted the fact in a statement released today, in which it explains that it is “a single video” about an event that brought together important businessmen, and that the fact that it did not charge anything corresponded to a strategy to publicize its brand and production.
“As it is an audience of interest (businessmen), we chose to insert the producer´s brand in the communication of the event in exchange for the delivered product”, justified Astronautas Filmes.
The company has contracts with the Government and, in the last two years, since Bolsonaro is in power, he has made several productions for the Ministries of Tourism, Education and Health and for the Presidency itself, but clarified that he also works with other clients, including of private scope.
The explanations did not convince Congressman Valente, who said that the matter may constitute a case of trafficking in influences and other crimes.
“Transforming influence into a business, in addition to being immoral, is a crime expressly provided for in the legislation,” said Valente, in a document addressed to the Attorney General’s Office.
The deputy added that “the strong evidence presented in the report requires the immediate establishment of a procedure (of investigation) to clarify the conduct of Renan Bolsonaro”.
The Brazilian head of state has four children and a ten-year-old girl, and Renan is the only one of the four men who does not work in politics.
Flávio Bolsonaro is a senator, his brother Eduardo is a deputy and the third, Carlos, is a city councilor in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
The three are being investigated for various issues ranging from the promotion of anti-democratic acts and the spreading of false news, as is the case with Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, or alleged irregularities with public money, as is the case with Flávio and Carlos Bolsonaro.
