The case of the murder of former Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo is now “99% solved”, according to Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla. He said that the National Bureau of Investigation had arrested “one of the masterminds”, who had been on the run, with two to three other “masterminds” still to be found, but Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr. remains “in the middle of everything” in the case despite having been out of the country since the assassination. Most of the ten suspected assassins are former Army soldiers presently in NBI custody. Teves’ estate was raided and police found 19 firearms, including an M4 assault rifle, and about 10,000 rounds of ammunition.
