Remlingen: Drinking water has to be boiled

Since a small amount of enterococci were detected in both routine and follow-up sampling, the drinking water in Remlingen (district of Wrzburg) must be boiled until further notice. This is announced by Gnter Schuhmacher, Mayor of the market town of Remlingen. The order from Monday remains in effect until the results are presented and canceled by the health department.

As reported by the Wrzburg District Office, the limit value for enterococci in drinking water is 0 CFU / 100 ml, a maximum of 2 CFU / 100 ml was found. In addition, the community is called upon to research the causes and to carry out a close-knit investigation program (including the high container).

To kill pathogens, drinking water has to be boiled once and slowly cooled down. The use of a kettle is recommended for practical reasons.

This is particularly necessary in the following cases:

  • Drinking, preparing beverages (e.g. ice cubes)
  • Preparing food
  • Washing fruit, vegetables, lettuce or other foods
  • Medical purposes (e.g. wound cleaning, nasal rinses)
  • Brush your teeth
  • Washing dishes by hand
  • Drinking water for sensitive pets

An alternative to boiled drinking water is the supply of bottled water from the trade.
