Remkes: possibly also cabinet members from other parties

Informer Remkes takes into account that parties that do not belong to the new coalition provide “alternative forms of support”. As expected, Remkes advises in his final report negotiations on a majority cabinet of VVD, D66, CDA and ChristenUnie. There must be a concise coalition agreement. Within that framework, the candidate ministers draw up a government programme, he writes.

In an explanation, the informateur said that the alternative support could also lead to other parties being able to “supply ministers in an extra parliamentary part”. He is thinking of PvdA, GroenLinks, Volt, SGP and the Den Haan faction.

Open invitation

Remkes spoke of an “open invitation”. He also said that the parties involved have told him that they are not there yet, but according to him it is a signal that no one should stop thinking for the next week. These groups should also be allowed to participate in discussions on certain themes or about finances.

In an initial response, the PvdA has already announced that it is impossible for that party to supply ministers to this coalition. Party leader Ploumen sees no other role for her party. GroenLinks leader Klaver reacted in a similar way.
