Remembering Zhou Wenyao: Former Chairman of Cyberport and Hong Kong Stock Exchange CEO

Zhou Wenyao, former chairman of Cyberport and former chief executive of Hong Kong Stock Exchange, died at the age of 76.

Zhou Wenyao was the chief executive officer of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange from November 1991 to January 1997. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company Limited for 2 years. He then returned to the merged Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2003 as chief executive. Zhou Jiaoyao was appointed as the chairman of Cyberport by the government in 2010.

The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Professionals Association expresses deep condolences to Zhou Wenyao’s passing away and expresses deep condolences to his family. The association pointed out that, as an outstanding figure in Hong Kong’s financial circle, he has made outstanding contributions to the Hong Kong securities market and even the entire financial industry. During his tenure as the CEO of the Exchange, he implemented a series of reforms and innovative measures to enhance the infrastructure of Hong Kong securities, and improved risk management, corporate governance and market quality. He also introduced a variety of innovative investment products and services to provide investors with more Rich choices.
