Veteran singer Hong Min (76), who was popular in the 1970s with songs such as ‘Farewell’, ‘Hometown Elementary’, and ‘Farewell’, passed away on the 2nd after a battle with colon cancer. Born in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do in 1947, the deceased first debuted in the music industry in 1971 with the duet song ‘Missing Someone’ with singer Jang Mi-ra. The following year, he received great love from the public by showing off his attractive mid-low voice through the adapted song ‘Farewell’ and the remake song ‘Hometown Elementary’. The group continued to gain popularity with songs such as ‘Farewell’, ‘Park Bench’, and ‘Longing Home’.

It is reported that the deceased continued his singing activities while running a live cafe in Jecheon, North Chungcheong Province. In 2013, she was also appointed as a public relations ambassador for Jecheon City. However, as his health deteriorated recently, he stopped his activities, and last July, he appeared on KBS 1TV’s ‘Gayo Stage’ and sang while playing the guitar, which became his last performance.

The funeral will be held at Sejong Funeral Home in Jecheon, North Chungcheong Province, and the funeral will be held at 7 a.m. on the 4th.
