Remembering Tibor Simon: Three-Time Champion with Ferencváros (22nd Anniversary of His Passing)

Tibor Simon became a three-time champion with the green and white team.

To this day, exactly 22 years ago, on April 23, 2002, Tibor Simon died. The legend of Fradi became a hero three times with the green and white team, and also celebrated three cup victories. Simon was a member of Ferencváros, which reached the group stage of the Champions League in 1995. Tibor Simon appeared in a total of 338 games in the FTC, and in the Hungarian national team he got to speak in 16 games.

Even after his retirement, he did not break away from football, because he also worked as a coach for BVSC, REAC and Sopron.

“2002. on April 20, after the Kispest-Sopron league match, he stayed in Budapest and attended a birthday celebration in a Buda bar. The celebration turned into a tragedy, as he was attacked hit Tibor Simon so hard in the early hours of April 21, 2002 that he died of his injuries on April 23, 2002. His fighting prowess, his unmatched game, his mind, and his love for Fradi all made Tibor Simon a legend already in his life.
