A short while ago, the great artist Kariman, one of the stars of the beautiful era, passed away after a struggle with illness, as her only son Sherine announced the death of his mother, who had struggled with the disease during the recent period, as she was detained in intensive care in a hospital, saying: “My beloved, dear, late mother has passed away, God willing.” God is the need, Kariman Muhammad Salim Al-Osta, wife of the late MP Mahmoud Abu Al-Nasr, former head of the Planning and Budget Committee in the House of Representatives.”
The great artist’s only son continued, announcing the funeral date: “The funeral prayer will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, at the Mustafa Mahmoud Mosque in Mohandiseen, after the noon prayer, and the burial will be in the family cemetery on October 6… There is no power nor strength except in God, the Most High, the Great.”
“The Seventh Day” was the only one with the first interview and pictures of the artist Kariman after an absence and retirement that spanned 55 years, during which she revealed many secrets about her career and the reasons for her absence and retirement while she was at the peak of her beauty, youth, and government.
The great artist said during her only interview after her retirement for many years on the Seventh Day: “I was a little spoiled and worked in art for a while, and then I said, ‘Peace be upon you,’ and I left him after my marriage and the birth of my only son, Sherine. I am now a grandmother and have 4 grandchildren, the eldest of whom is a pharmaceutical doctor, the second a media graduate, the third studying at the Naval Academy, and the youngest.” Everyone’s lover in primary school, and my son is a businessman who is far from the field of art.”
The artist Kariman was born in 1936 in Cairo to a father of Lebanese roots and an Egyptian-Turkish mother. She studied at the Lycee and her love for art appeared in childhood, where she worked in children’s programs with Baba Sharo, and she also participated in school theatre.
The great actress participated in many films, where she was one of the first-class stars, and her works include: “The Charming Mother-in-Law, Tamr Henna, My Mirror is a General Manager, Today’s Girls, Jamila Bouhraid and others.” The audience called her the movie cat, but she retired after only 12 years of acting. Artistic work, until the seventh day conducted a dialogue with her and pictures of her at an advanced stage of her life, in which she maintained her beauty and lightness, nearly 60 years after her retirement.
