Remembering Simona Postlerová: Theater Actress and Icon (1964–2024)

Simona Postlerová died unexpectedly on May 5 at the age of 59. Theater, film and television actress Postlerová joined the Vinohrady Theater in 1992 after taking part in a play at the Theater National. The day before she died, according to the Vinohrady theater, she was using Terezka in the next production of Lenka Lagronova’s play.

“For more than thirty years, she was a supporter of the local acting group, but also a wonderful, compassionate, helpful colleague and friend. She portrayed almost 40 unforgettable acting characters on our stage,” said Vinohrady’s vision.

Simona Postlerová was born on November 9, 1964 in Pilsen into an acting family, and reportedly knew she would follow her parents as a child. She studied acting at the DAMU in Prague, got a job at the National Theater and then became a member of the Theater in Vinohrady. In addition, she also performed in the Ungelt Theater.

Viewers also know her from films, productions and series. She played in the television series Boys and Men, Hospoda, Chetnické humoresky, Hospital on the edge of the city after twenty years or Ordinace v rozágárden. She appeared in the films Zámek v Cechách, Divnolásky, Jedna kočka za druje or in the recently released film Dancing Matylda.

In addition to acting, Postlerová was also a well-known spy and reporter, she worked with radio. For example, she gave the nickname Samantha Carter in the series Stargate, Lorelai Gilmore in the series Gilmore Girls, Annie Hacker in Sure, Mr. Minister or Audrey Hepburn in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s. In 2002, she won the František Filipovský Award for Best Actress in Dubbing for voicing actress Emma Thompson in the film Joke.

Postler was married to musician Zdeňko Hrášek, who died in 2016. They had a son and daughter together.
