S Club 7 singer Paul Cattermole has died “unexpectedly” at the age of 46, his family and the pop group have announced.
But who was Paul Cattermole and what impact did he have on his fans?
The singer, who was due to reunite with the famous pop group in February for a 25th anniversary tour, was found dead on Thursday afternoon at his home in Dorset.
Paul was born in St Albans in Hertfordshire in March 1977.
He attended the National Youth Theater before being selected to join the S Club.
As a member of the group, he sold 14 million albums worldwide and was number one in the UK four times, as well as a number one for his album.
After joining the band in 1999, he left in 2002 to form a metal band called Skua.
However, after failing to secure a record deal, the band broke up.
In 2008, he and two other original members of S Club 7 announced that they would form S Club 3.
Alongside Jo O’Meara and Bradley McIntosh, he travels the United Kingdom and performs in universities and nightclubs.
In 2015, Paul took his place in the reunion of S Club 7, which saw the band tour the country during the month of May.
In 2014, he filed for bankruptcy and sold his Brit Award for Britain’s Best Breakthrough on eBay for £66,100, saying “there are bills to pay”.
His death was confirmed by the group on Friday, April 7.
