Mourning in the world of sport and school. Professor Pietro Domina, physical education teacher and founder of the Sirius gym in Bonagia, one of the oldest gyms in the city with over 40 years of activity, has died at the age of 66, after a short illness. Always close to young people thanks to the profession he had chosen, Domina taught in various schools in the city: from the industrialist Alessandro Volta to the Regina Margherita psycho-pedagogical high school up to the hotel management Pietro Piazza. And it is precisely his former students, who have appreciated him over the years, who remember him in these hours.
In addition to his career in the world of school, Domina was also one of the most well-known faces in the world of fitness in Palermo. In 1983, in fact, he opened the Sirius gym, one of the most important city realities in the sector. The Municipality, just this year, had rewarded her with one plaque for 40 years of activity.
Historic athletic trainer at the Stadio delle Palme and discoverer of sporting talents, in the 1970s Domina was also an athletics champion, competing as a sprinter. The funeral will be held in the parish church of Maria Santissima di Pompei tomorrow, 14 September, at 11.30 am.
