Prof. Dr. Dimitar Nenov has left usDoctor of Medical Sciences, specialist in internal medicine and nephrologyvice-rector of MU-Varna in the period 1978-1979 and 1985-1987, one of the doyens of the Nephrology and Dialysis Clinic in Varnaan undisputed authority in the nephrology community not only in Bulgaria, but also in the world.
Dear Specialist, helped the successful professional realization of hundreds of young doctors. A person of high professionalism and professional ethics, with a lot of knowledge and skills, always ready to share them with his younger colleagues. The academic management of MU-Varna and the colleagues of Prof. Nenov express their most sincere condolences to his relatives and family.
He was born on 05/09/1933 in the village of Pobit Kamak, Razgradsko. He graduated from the semi-classical high school in Ruse and medicine at the Medical University of Sofia in 1957. He obtained the specialties “Internal Diseases” and “Nephrology”. Specialized is in Prague, Bologna, Parma and Moscow. He worked as a district therapist in Burgas (1957-1958), inspector in the “Public Health” department of the National Health Service – Burgas (1958), deputy chief physician of the District Hospital (1959-1960) and chief of the BMP-Burgas (1961).
Assistant in the Department of Internal Medicine of MU-Varna since 1962. He was qualified as associate professor (1973) and professor (1985). Since 1973, he has been the head of the nephrology clinic and the founder and organizer of the first hemodialysis department in Varna. He was the head of the United Department of Internal Medicine of the Medical University of Varna (1987-1992), and from 1992 until his retirement in 2001, he was the head of the Department of Nephrology, Hemodialysis and Hematology of the Medical University of Varna.
Prof. Dr. Dimitar Nenov established the Nephrology and Hemodialysis Clinic in the distant 1973 with the ambition to learn and introduce into daily clinical practice all the new research and treatment methods that are applied in Europe and in the world.
On the idea of Prof. Dr. D. Nenov, dmn, in 1991 the “Kidney” Foundation was established – Varna. He is also one of the initiators of the creation of the World Alliance of Kidney Foundations (first meetings: May 1999 in Buenos Aires and September 1999 in Madrid). He is an honorary member of the universities in Prague and Skopje.
