Remembering Nikolay N. Ninov: A Tribute to the Late Journalist and Writer

Our colleague, the journalist and writer Nikolay N. Ninov, has died, his relatives announced yesterday.

Nikolay N. Ninov worked as the editor-in-chief of the magazine “High Club” and the magazine Story, as the deputy head of the magazines “1000 dni” and “Standart”, the editor-in-chief of the magazine ” Nedelen Standart” and BusinessWeek Bulgaria magazine.

The journalism network was established under the “Access to Information” Program.

Nikolay N. Ninov’s first news book “Interest for Summer” was published in 1987. Four years later IC “Iv. Vazov” published a book of narrative prose “Nine Male Dramas” (1991). “No bow ties in the Night of the Caesars” (IC “Yanchev and Co”) is the result of Nikolai N. Ninov’s meetings with the artistic elite of Paris. The book was published in 1994, and the supplementary edition “French Connection” (2007) is the work of the publishing house “Riva”, which also published the novel “Gigolo” (2000) by the same author.

Nikolay N. Ninov is also the author of the books “Repeated Dreams” (2015), “Time Sees with Ten Eyes” (2017), “Found by Miracles” (2019), “Visions from the Ancient World” (2022) and “The March of the Idols” (2024) issued by Siela IC.

Nikolai N. Ninov’s notable interlocutors include writers Erskine Caldwell, James Aldridge, Emmanuel Robles, Sergey Mikhalkov and Pierre Gamara; directors Claude Sotte, Yves Robert, Robert Ausen and Felix Falk; actors Jean Marais, Daniel Darillo, Jean-Louis Trentignan, Philippe Noiret, Gérard Depardieu, Claude Brasseur, Jean Rochefort, Fanny Ardan and Penelope Cruz; TV host Bernard Pivo; athletes Eddy Merckx, Johan Cruyff and Gary Lineker; singer Czeslaw Niemen; Surgeons Professor Bernard Devochel (author of the first face transplant in the world in 2005 and ninth in 2009) and Prof. Laurent Lantieri (did the third and fifth face transplants in 2007 and 2009).

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 10.
