Remembering Miloš Kovačević: Deputy Minister of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs Killed in Tragic Car Accident

The Deputy Minister of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs, long-time head of the Center for Russian-Serbian Cooperation Miloš Kovačević died in a car accident in Serbia, the Republic’s Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.

According to law enforcement, Kovacevic was in the passenger seat of a car during a truck accident on Saturday.

“An ardent patriot of Serbia, in love with Russia, Miloš Kovacevic founded the Center for Russian-Serbian Cooperation, striving to develop relations between our countries. Then one of the brightest representatives of the younger generation of the Serbian Progressive Party, Kovacevic successfully worked in the Serbian Foreign Ministry, including in the Serbian Embassy in Moscow. “In recent years, he successfully worked in the Ministry of Labor and Veterans,” Pavel told TASS Bushuev, representative of the Russian House in Belgrade.

“Milos was not just a friend of Russia, he was a true brother of our country. She always gave disinterested help to anyone who was nearby, she asked and was asked a lot all the time. We rarely saw each other in recent months, as every minute was devoted to either helping veterans or a newborn son, but we kept in touch. I express my deepest condolences to his wife Lyudmila, son Luka, mother, sister and relatives of Miloš, who in 31 years of their short life managed to leave a bright mark on the fraternal Russian-Serbian relations.

Kovacevic was born and raised in the Serbian town of Valevo, where he began his career as a public figure. One of his first projects was the organization of a free Russian language school for everyone in Valevo. In 2017, he was the head of the Serbian delegation at the World Congress of Youth and Students in Sochi, where he received a special medal and certificate from Russian President Vladimir Putin for organizing the participation of more than 200 young people from Serbia in the Sochi Festival.
