The Ministry of the Economy has launched a campaign to denounce and recall 17 metric saws, classified as industrial machines, for technical defects and for reasons of public safety.
The corrective action relating to the professional use of the DeWalt miter saw, model DH5780, has been notified to the Ministry; This is in collaboration with the agency dedicated to the sale of the product (Black & Decker “DeWalt”), of Taiwanese origin and manufactured between 2019-2022.
The ministry explained, “The affected products are professional use miter saws. A small number of broken back protectors were identified in the finished units through De Walt’s internal quality procedures; When an investigation was conducted, including analysis of the broken parts, which established machining issues that caused the plastic to become brittle at the backguard parts supplier, De Walt determined that in rare cases, parts of the backguard assembly could break or separate and contact a saw blade. If this occurs during operation, fragments of the rear guard assembly may be thrown from a rotating blade and contact the operator or a bystander, posing a potential risk of injury. The likelihood of infection of users was rated as low.
De Walt invited end users; stop using the product and contact our customer service to obtain a free repair kit; The agency will work with its distributors and retailers to inform them of this recall campaign, including providing labels for in-store use and formulating samples for use on their website. To ensure end users are notified of this problem, DeWalt will contact them directly.
DeWalt will be updating their website to provide more details on this issue and the actions end users should take. De Walt is asking affected users in the UAE to stop using their miter saw and check out the model.
