For the magazine “Kas Jauns”, Krauze remembers a visit to the composer Raimonds Tigula this spring, where he and Paula had invited a couple.
“Lana told a lot – about her childhood, about ethnically colorful Odesa, about her backyard, where ten children of other nationalities lived, about how she saw Latvia in the 60s, about the first years of her life here, what it was like to learn the Latvian language, about that environment of artists and bohemia, and how he was accepted here and what was the motivation to learn Latvian,” reveals Krauze.
The journalist was very surprised by Lana’s excellent Latvian language and how much she follows everything.
“It’s a shame that it was our first big and last conversation.
After that, I also understood Lana’s mission and role in Maestro’s life.
Lana was perfectly aware of Raymond’s schedule and all day-to-day affairs, but at the same time she never interfered in the creative activity with comments or evaluations,” recalls Krause.
It has already been reported that on August 4, the public was shocked by the sad news – Lana Paula, the wife of maestro Raimonds Paula, passed away after an illness at the age of 84. The maestro and his spouse would celebrate their 61st wedding anniversary on August 31. As reported by “Privatā Dzīve”, Lana Paula’s health had deteriorated recently. Last year, the wife of the maestro underwent a leg operation.
