Remembering José Sébéloué: The Death of Singer from Compagnie Créole Leaves Thionville in Mourning

The death, this Sunday, September 3, of singer José Sébéloué of the Compagnie Créole plunges Thionville into mourning. It must be said that a special bond unites the famous West Indian group and the Moselle town. Clémence Bringtown, the sublime singer of the group, has taken up residence in the sector for a very long time: “Ten years ago, when I decided to leave Parisian life, it was quite naturally that I chose to settle in this heart region which participated in the success of La Compagnie Créole”, she confided in our columns in 2017. That year, the artist had offered the Thionvillois a Christmas with Creole sauce. A delicious memory, punctuated by a tour of songs performed by the four members of the Company.

A close proximity

Last year again, the interpreter and lyricist had given the cover, for our readers, on the occasion of the end of year celebrations. Always ready to give voice, she had resumed, a cappella, the hits “Bons kisses de Fort de France” and “Christmas from home, Christmas from everywhere”. An unforgettable moment, intended for the readers of the Republican Lorrain and immortalized in a video.

Proof of his closeness to the deceased, Clémence, also manager of the group, created with José Sébéloué the production company which allowed the group to prolong its existence on stage. Suffice to say that the Creole Companion loses this Sunday one of its pillars, who died at the age of 74.
