In front of Dagbladet, colleague Kristin Moksnes (66) shares some warm words about Arentz, with whom she led “Sånn er lievet” together.
– Jan Birger was a sparklingly good journalist, he represented the best in journalism and in NRK. He was very knowledgeable, thorough, concerned with the important social issues, and curious about human life, in all its diversity. He challenged power, calm in form, but razor-sharp in his analysis.
NRK’s profile is dead
– He was a warm and supportive colleague, never emphasized himself, always took good care of young, fresh journalists. Very kind!, she adds.
Moksnes describes Arentz as the “original journalist” who always had an eye for what was important to tell. She herself is only left with good memories from when they were presenters together.

– Leading “Sånn er lievet” with him was a joy, he was super confident, always well prepared and to the point. You wouldn’t believe it, when you saw his desk: chaotic, papers, notes and reports in wild disarray – inversely proportional to his clear head and intellect. The warm laughter and good smile were never far away.
In 2009, after 38 years in the job, he left the state channel.
