1 Catastrophic start
The waves of Lille were linked to the Lorient goal throughout the first half. At the break, Losc had already shot twelve times on goal… FC Lorient zero. Cabella was untenable (6′, 9′, 28′) but Ounas (11′), David (19′), Weah (25′), A. Gomes (43′) and Bamba (45’+2) also took their chance. Les Merlus came out of it very well, trailing by only one goal, following an achievement by the omnipresent Rémy Cabella (13′). Suffocated, dominated in all areas of the game, the team of Régis Le Bris was totally absent from the debates, as rarely this season.
2 Ponceau failed to replace Le Fée
Substitute in the last four games, Julien Ponceau was established following the last minute withdrawal of Enzo Le Fée, victim of muscular discomfort.
The 22-year-old midfielder had an opportunity to shine and regain points. Lack. Even if he cannot take full responsibility for the failure, he did not exist and was unable to organize the Lorient game. He was replaced in the 67th minute when Lorient had not yet shot on goal. And even if the entry of the powerful Ibrahima Koné, author of the equalizer on the only shot on target for Les Merlus, gave hope, the red card from Abergel and the double from Zhegrova, gave Lille a logical victory, although frustrating.
3 End of the European dream?
With more than 20 points ahead of the red zone before the start of this 29th day, FC Lorient could logically look up. And this trip to Lille was a perfect test to see if the Morbihan club could join in the fight for European Cup qualifying. Ultra-dominated in the first period, almost invisible offensively for the vast majority of the game, the Hakes lacked a lot of things this Sunday. With eight points behind Lille, fifth and last provisional qualifier in the European Cup, qualification for a European Cup seems almost impossible. The end of the season could be without stake.
