Bruno Ferrero died in the middle of August, at the age of 89. His funeral was celebrated on Saturday August 19 in Tressange, the town where he was born on November 4, 1933.
The Moselle leaves behind a magnificent career as a professional footballer as a goalkeeper. Permanent holder of FC Nancy for seven seasons between 1957 and 1964, he played in the famous Coupe de France final on May 13, 1962 at the Colombes stadium in the presence of General De Gaulle. Mario Zatelli’s Nancy lost in the 86th minute against Saint-Etienne, on a goal from Baulu.
Eight days earlier, Bruno Ferrero had honored his only cape of international A in the cage of the French team of Albert Batteux, beaten 2-1 in Florence by Italy.
Le Tressangeois also wears the jersey of US Forbach (1958-1959), JS Audun-le-Tiche and the Luxembourgish clubs Rumelange and Fola Esch.
He also coached La Ciotat (CFA, Bouches-du-Rhône) in 1969-70, the Luxembourg national team in 1972 and FC Bure (Moselle) in the 1970s.
Our deepest condolences to his loved ones and family.
