“Agneta was not only a great athlete, she was also a great friend. We have known each other since I was 16 and she was 18. We won our first medal together in 1981 at the WC and the last one in 1996. We’ve been through a lot together. For the last 20 years, we have spent time without a canoe. Agneta fought until the end and it hurts so much,” writes Gunnarsson in a comment to TT.
After her career, Agneta Andersson continued her work for the sport of canoeing, including as a board member of the Bofors canoe club.
Agneta Andersson is mourned most closely by her partner and the couple’s son.
